Delhi Central board of education

Most schools in Delhi are affiliated to the Delhi Central Education board. This education board is under the control of the Government of India. It imparts education at a school level. It has a curriculum that comprises of

  • Academic studies
  • Sports
  • Extra curricular activities, such as drawing.

History

The Central Board of Secondary Education was first set up in 1921. At that time, it was known as the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education. Its name changed in 1952. At present, numerous schools in almost all states of India follow the Delhi Central board education model. Many government and non-government schools follow the Delhi Central Education board curriculum.

Grade system

Unlike CISCE, the Central education board does not hold two tests. It has only one public exam that is held at the end of the Class XII academic year. It is known as the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE). It also holds an annual evaluation of academic progress. The Delhi Central board model earlier awarded marks on completion of examinations. But the marks system was done away with in December 2009. Students who sit for the exams are now awarded with grades. The grades are

  • A1
  • A2
  • B1
  • B2
  • C1
  • C2
  • D1
  • D2
  • E1(FAIL)
  • E2(FAIL)

Candidates who fail can sit for the exam once more.

Who passes the exam?

The factors considered for a successful completion of an exam include

  • Performance in written examination,
  • Behavior
  • Respect to the Teachers,
  • Neatness
  • Clarity of language,
  • Submission of Class-works,
  • Homework
  • Projects

Students who fulfill all criteria are regarded as fit to be promoted to a higher class.
