New Delhi Metro

The New Delhi station serves the New Delhi Railway station. It is on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro. This will also be the terminus for the Airport Express. Plans are being made to finish it within the year 2010.


Facts about New Delhi Railway Station

Back in the year 2007, Terry Farrell and Partners was commissioned to update and modernize the station. This expansion was being planned for the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010. Farells is known as the main consultant for the master plan that is made of the Indian Railways. It also has taken the charge for the redevelopment of the New Delhi Railway station. Work is being carried on to develop the station much better than its present conditions.

The cost for the redevelopment work is estimated to be 6000 crore INR. With this estimate the terminals would also undergo a change. At present the station has an area of 86 hectares of land. It has a land area of 50 acres that can be well used for any other commercial or retail purpose.
